Golden milk

I’m sure I’m not alone in deciding it’s time to cut out coffee every now and then. Either for health reasons, anxiety control, or just wanting to rely on my own naturally produced energy, it is nice to sometimes take a break from the wonderful hug that is caffeine.

The one thing I struggle with however is losing that nice warm cup of something in the morning, and if I’m being honest tea just doesn’t hit the spot, enter the golden milk latte.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 tsp ginger (grated

  • 1/2 cup canned coconut milk (it must be canned, full fat is best)

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder

  • 1 1/2 tsp maple syrup

  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon

  • 3/4 tsp coconut oil

Ingredients

  1. Grate the ginger then squeeze the juice out of it into a saucepan. Discard the pulp. Add the remaining ingredients to the saucepan and place over medium heat. Heat through for about 3 to 5 minutes, not letting it come to a boil. Whisk continuously.

  2. Carefully transfer into a mason jar and seal with a lid. Shake vigorously for about 30 seconds, or until foam starts to form. (Note: You can also use a blender for this step, but the turmeric can stain the blender cup.) Pour into glasses through a sieve and enjoy!

This recipe makes 1 serving and takes all of 10 minutes to make from start to finish, plus it feels like a nice warm hug.
